In-home remedial and obedience training services for Abbotsford, Langley, Vancouver and surrounding areas in British Columbia, Canada

"Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong."

Happy dogs are what I do

My priority as a trainer is to give you and your dog the tools that allow him to compliment your life instead of complicate it. I use a balance of positive reinforcement training and clear boundary setting to achieve fast and lasting results in dogs of all ages and temperaments. In addition to teaching general obedience and healthy social skills, I work with a wide range of issues including but not limited to:

  • separation anxiety

  • reactivity (on and off leash)

  • excitability

  • fearfulness

  • aggression

  • destructive behavior

  • anti-social behavior

My work in the animal industry has lead me to a wide variety of domesticated and exotic animal species. I've had the pleasure of training, working with and caring for mammals such as bear, wolves, black-tail deer and raccoons along with various birds of prey in my past and continued work in the film industry. Working with both prey and predatory animals requires a sophisticated level of adaptability and sensitivity to their varying temperaments and personalities. I create a completely unique training program catered to your dog’s specific learning and motivation style by applying the skills that I learned and use with exotic species . By addressing behavioral issues at their source rather than treating the symptoms of behavioral disruption, I'm able to build your dog's confidence and security as an individual. This environment promotes a healthy mindset and a human-dog bond that is developed based on mutual respect and trust.

My passion lies in changing the way that we, as a society, engage with our dogs. Your dog should be an extension of yourself- one that you are incredibly proud of. Learn the tools to be able to stimulate, challenge, fulfill and engage your dog in a way that leads to a more peaceful household.

Obedience Training

Address and replace unwanted behaviors by uncovering the source of the problem and redirecting the need. This training is useful whether you have a new puppy, have a rescue or have new or long term behavioral issues you'd like to address with your adult dog.

Behavioral Intervention

Whether you have rescued a dog with unknown background or you have raised a dog with confusing and disruptive behavioral issues, behavioral intervention will help you understand the appropriate approach to unwanted behaviors and the path to shaping the behaviors that you want. My approach to intense reactivity is safe, productive and based on building your dog's tolerance to stress through the management of triggers.

Basic obedience training is a must for dogs of all breeds and ages. Puppy or senior, every dog has the ability to learn new tricks and it's never too late to implement a training program.

Canine Relationship

A dog is meant to enhance your life, and these incredibly intelligent beings are so capable of doing exactly that- but owning a dog requires a language that is foreign to many of us. Truly bonding with your dog comes from so much more than simply sharing space. This is your  best friend; allow me to break that language barrier and open the door to a world of fluid communication and sensitivity between you and your canine.

SOME OF OUR HAPPY CUSTOMERS

Terrier Mix, KC

When we adopted a 3 year old terrier mix we had no idea about his background or upbringing. But it was clear very early on that we needed help with him. He presented as being both aggressive and defensive with other animals. We were met with his blank stares when asking the most basic commands like sit, or lie down. He didn't seem to understand the concept of play. It was clear that an 'obedience class' was going to be a significant challenge. When we found Jamie Andersen, everything changed. After a very thorough assessment of him (and of us), she worked with him 'where he was at'. She addressed his needs and educated us. She worked with him, slowly and cautiously so as not to frustrate him, but to 'coax him out of his shell and build up his self confidence'. Jamie and her methods - based on the individual dog and the owners - helped him immensely! Once he figured out how to learn, he learned quickly. The dog we brought home from the adoption agency is not the same dog we have today - thanks to Jamie Andersen and her extensive experience in working with a wide range of animals.

Border Collie, LEVI

I met Jamie about a year ago when I needed help training my puppy. I was very happy with her in home one on one training sessions. Jamie is very patient and always takes the time to explain things thoroughly.

I greatly benefited from these training sessions, as did my puppy. Jamie was always there to address any questions or concerns that I had in between sessions as well. She is extremely knowledgeable and personable. By far the best trainer I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!
