About me

My training career has never been species-specific and every animal I've worked with has taught me a different technique that I've transferred to my dog training.

My animal training career began in the horse world, training off the track Thoroughbreds in hunter/jumper disciplines. I found my passion in seeing the security and comfort the horses I worked with experienced when they truly understood what they were doing. I was determined to see that same release in any animal I worked with.

I've had the pleasure of working in a variety of disciplines in my dog training career involving a variety of temperaments, from nearly feral rescue dogs to aggression-trained personal protection dogs and everything in between. In addition to residential training, I have also trained and worked dogs for use in various commercials and films.

It wasn't long after my professional career began that I was captivated and consumed by exotic animal training. I've had the incredible opportunity to work with, train, care for and raise some of the world's most extraordinary birds and mammals such as bear, wolves, raccoons, black-tail deer and owls. At my start, wild animal work was a completely different world to me that was both thrilling and unforgiving. It requires tremendous patience, accuracy and attention to detail. Immersing myself in this industry has sharpened every skill I ever had and has developed countless more that I never would have acquired otherwise. There is no textbook to refer back to when you run into issues with an exotic species- this is what taught me perhaps the most valuable skill, which is my ability to observe, understand and build upon the learning style, personality and will of the animal in front of me and then to adapt in each moment, as they do.

The relationships I have with these animals motivates me to always be learning and advancing my abilities. I'm dedicated to giving them the most enriched life possible and to showing the world the intelligence and character behind our fiercest predators and our most overlooked prey. Perhaps then we'll better care for their wild relatives.
